The Violence of Flowers

I came across the art of Carne Griffiths through Its What I’m Into and wow was I impressed! This is exactly the kind of drawing I like. Griffiths uses calligraphy ink, graphite and liquids (such as tea brandy, vodka and whisky) to draw, there after manipulating the line. He spent 12 years working as a gold wire embroidery designer and you can see this influence with his floral designs, repetition and flow.

He describes his ‘The Violence of Flowers’ series as a series that ‘explores our relationship with nature further. It draws an analogy between our darker side and the deception and violence inherent in the plant kingdom’.
